Knights Valley

Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Grown in the volcanic soils of our estate-owned vineyards, Anakota Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon embodies the rustic spirit of rural Sonoma County. Our vineyards climb the southwest-facing slopes of 4,300ft. Mount St. Helena, and are surrounded by a wilderness of cold mountain streams and forests of native fir and oak. The message of our soil, as expressed by the subtle variations of topography and geology, is conveyed in every bottle.

Tasting Notes

A dark violet core of color gives rise to aromas of crunchy black cherry, ripe black currant, and fresh California bay laurel, accentuated by subtle toasted baking spices and bittersweet baking cocoa. These vibrant flavors wash across the palate, joined by crushed stone minerality from the soils of our Knights Valley Estate vineyards. Luxuriously firm tannins and bright acidity imparted by a very fine vintage balance the exuberance of the fruit and drive to a very long finish.

Vigneron Notes

The winter of 2021 brought very cool temperatures and below-average rainfall to Northern California, marking a second straight year of drought. To ensure equilibrium between the vines and the soils, careful pruning was performed throughout the winter months. Budbreak and flowering occurred slightly later than normal due to cool weather through March and April, but the summer months warmed up beautifully, delivering an exceptional growing season. September’s harvest produced concentrated and thick-skinned berries, with sugars and acids in ideal balance.
